Read for the Record, opens a new window is this Thursday, Oct. 29! Every year, people all around the world join together to celebrate early literacy and set a global record to all read the same book in one day.
Last year, over two million readers from 49 states and 34 countries joined in reading Thank You, Omu! written and illustrated by Oge Mora. This year we hope to beat that record with the book Evelyn Del Rey Is Moving Away by Meg Medina, illustrated by Sonia Sanchez. Schools all around the county will be reading the book together, and you can get in on the fun too! Join Nicole, Kenny, and Alice for a virtual reading of the book (only available Oct. 29), check out the eBook online, opens a new window, and then do an activity at home, opens a new window inspired by the story!
You can stop by your library branch on Thursday, Oct. 29 during Curbside Services to pick up your very own copy of the book (while supplies last). And don't forget to get counted, opens a new window so we can beat last year's numbers!
