Month of the Young Child

April is Month of the Young Child here at San Mateo County Libraries!

Join us at our 12 branches for family-friendly activities and musical performances aimed to please and entertain the younger children in our homes. All month long we will dance, sing, stretch, and learn along with you as we welcome the Bay Area Discovery Museum, the Beetlelady, Juan L. Sánchez, Leyna Roget, MaryLee Sunseri, and Mister Q. For a complete listing of April programming at our branches this month, check out our events page.

It is never too early to engage in STEM activities with your children. Get ready to think, play and learn with the Bay Area Discovery Museum as they introduce young minds to engineering and making. Then, join the Beetlelady as she teaches us about bugs, beetles, and spiders during her playful and engaging workshops.

Bay Area Discovery Museum Workshops

Fairy Tale Engineering, Push Pull Crash, and Bridge Builders are just a few of the workshops being hosted for preschoolers that will transform them into little engineers.

The Beetlelady

Meet a variety of bugs, insects, and arthropods in preschool workshops led by entomologist Stephanie Dole. Touch bugs, sing songs, and listen to stories all about bugs!

Story Theater and Yoga Storytime

Take a break from your day and join us for these special story telling programs! Act!vated Story Theater will be bringing stories to life on stage with physical comedy, audience participation, American Sign Language and imaginative props! Or do you prefer something more low key?
