The San Mateo County Libraries' staff LOVE engaging our youngest visitors with fun storytimes and active learning programs! So who are these multi-talented and enthusiastic staff in Youth Services?
Meet Michelle
Let's get to know Belmont Libraries' Michelle through a series of interesting questions.
Who are you and where are you from?
I'm Michelle Ng a Youth Services Librarian at the Belmont Library. I grew up in Alameda, CA, and am enjoying getting to know the Belmont community.
What inspired you to work in libraries?
The Children's Librarian in Alameda was wonderful, and made every visit to the library magical. I became a strong reader because of her, and want to continue to inspire kids to love learning and reading.
What’s the coolest thing you’re working on right now?
Life-Size Candyland and Elephant & Piggie Party!
What do you like most about your job?
I love getting to know the community in Belmont and building relationships with all the families. I also love that I get to act silly in storytime.
What would you tell people about libraries that they might not know?
We have 3D printers and WiFi hotspots for check out!
What are you an (un)official expert on?
Making ice cream.
What do you like doing in your spare time?
In my spare time I like to cook, make ice cream, and dream about future library programs.
Who is your favorite fictional character of all time?
This is a very hard question. There are a lot of amazing female characters, like Hermione Granger, Alex Craft, and Sophronia Temminnick, but I especially like Piggie from Mo Willems' Elephant & Piggie series.
What’s your favorite movie?
What is your go-to dessert?
Cookies
What are you passionate about?

What are three things still left on your bucket list?
Visit all 50 states, I have 29 states left to visit.

In one word, what do libraries mean to you?
