One of the perks of working in technical services at a library is you get to see lots of new materials come through. Sometimes a book will jump out at us and we have to stop and take a second look. Amy Krouse Rosenthal's One of Those Days is exactly that kind of book.
With just a few words and very evocative pictures, Rosenthal's book tells a story we all know well: "running late day...itchy sweater day...feeling left out day." Each page mines a different emotion or situation, reminding us that everyone has tough days and that's ok. The ending is both peaceful and hopeful. No spoilers though, you'll have to check it out to discover how it ends.
If you're looking for more like this, there are lots of books for children on emotions (and they're great for grown-ups as well). Try Rosenthal's book and then check out these lists by other library users.
