To help us gear up for our 8th Annual Young Adult Novelist Convention (#YANovCon) coming up on Saturday, February 11, 2023, we’re holding a Short Story Writing Contest for teens! If you enjoy writing, enter your short story for a chance to win a prize. Submissions will be accepted through February 25. This year we are asking you to create a short story based on the theme of "Family and Chosen Family."
Here are the Short Story Guidelines:
- Open to 6th-12th graders who reside in San Mateo County
- Submit your own original work of 500 words or less
- Stories can be realistic fiction, sci-fi, fantasy, mystery, dystopian, or whatever you come up with
- All submissions are due by Saturday, February 25, opens a new window
Winners will receive prizes:
- 1st Place Prize: Book bundle and journal
- 2nd Place Prize: Book bundle
- 3rd Place Prize: journal

This year, YANovCon will be held at the new Burlingame Community Center located at 850 Burlingame Ave, Burlingame, CA. Join us at this amazing, free annual event.
