Enter the Teen Short Story Writing Contest for YANovCon!

To help us gear up for our 8th Annual Young Adult Novelist Convention (#YANovCon) coming up on Saturday, February 11, 2023, we’re holding a Short Story Writing Contest for teens! If you enjoy writing, enter your short story for a chance to win a prize. Submissions will be accepted through February 25. This year we are asking you to create a short story based on the theme of "Family and Chosen Family."

  • 1st Place Prize: Book bundle and journal
  • 2nd Place Prize: Book bundle
  • 3rd Place Prize: journal

To prepare for this event and inspire your own writing, check out this curated list of books, opens a new window to see if they’re available at your local library or take advantage of our various online resources, such as Hoopla and Libby, opens a new window, to access eBooks and audiobooks by the participating authors. This year, YANovCon will be held at the new Burlingame Community Center located at 850 Burlingame Ave, Burlingame, CA. Join us at this amazing, free annual event.
