Last year I learned about the wonderful work of CORA, opens a new window (Community Overcoming Relationship Abuse), helping those affected by domestic violence. In 2019 they accepted the Peninsula YMCA Community Hero Award. You can read CORA's executive director's acceptance speech on their website, opens a new window.

The part that really stands out to me is what executive director, Colsaria Henderson, said:

Inspired by the tenacious voices of the next generation, both here today and around the world, CORA will today shift Domestic Violence Awareness Month to Domestic Violence Action Month. Throughout the month of October, we will call on our community to take daily action.

San Mateo County Libraries is a safe place for all library patrons. Take action by using our resources, such as SMC Connect, to find help for yourself and others. El año pasado me enteré de la magnífica ayuda que CORA, opens a new window (Community Overcoming Relationship Abuse) ofrece a las personas afectadas por violencia doméstica. La parte más memorable para mí fue cuando la directora ejecutiva, Colsaria Henderson, dijo lo siguiente:
