Looking to get creative, have fun and learn something new during your summer adventure? At San Mateo County Libraries, we have STEAM events for all ages and abilities so you can discover your inner maker and beat summer boredom at the same time.
Find the Right STEAM Event for You
STEAM takes the acronym STEM and adds in an “A” for art, highlighting the importance of art and design in the study of science, technology, engineering and math. Whatever your interests, we are here to help you find what aspects of STEAM appeal to you!
You can check out our STEAM programs to see a full list of the STEAM events we offer. To search for events geared toward a specific age range, look for the “Audience” section in the left-hand menu and check the box for events suited to your needs. If you want to filter events by library location, select one or more libraries under the “Location” section. Configure your search to find the best STEAM events for you!
Drop-In 3D Printing
Who doesn’t love 3D printing? You can make it a part of your summer adventure by visiting our drop-in 3D printing sessions offered at many of our libraries. For more in-depth instruction and complex projects, you can make a 3D printing appointment.
Additionally, the maker team at Foster City Library can help you take 3D printing one step further by teaching you how to design your very own printable file using Tinkercad!
Drop-In Sewing
Did you know San Mateo County Libraries offer sewing machines for both check-out and drop-in use at several of our libraries? Our drop-in sewing hours are perfect for when you feel like jumping right into your project on a machine that’s ready to go. If you need more time, check out a sewing machine to take home too!
Drop-In Maker Tech
Want to explore more maker tech? In our drop-in maker sessions, you can use a variety of different maker equipment, from 3D printers and sewing machines to laser cutters and robots. Check out our drop-in exploration of maker tech so that you can get acquainted with a variety of tools. If you want to continue your exploration, you can make an appointment for one-on-one instruction on how to use any equipment that sparks your curiosity!
