Apples are my favorite fruit. They are so versatile! I can eat them raw or bake them. I can eat them plain or dip them in caramel, peanut butter, or even with my favorite chili powder. I've also eaten more varieties of apples than I can count with both hands; Fuji, Golden Delicious, Pink Lady, Pink Pearl, Granny Smith, Jazz, Pippen and Gala. They're all delicious!
In honor of Apple Day, opens a new window, which falls on Sunday, October 21st, I have searched through our catalog for some of my favorite picture books about apples.
Apples are also a great way to teach basic math concepts to young ones. While cutting apples you can talk to your child about fractions. Cut it in half to teach your little ones that now you have two pieces of apples. Then, cut the halves to turn them into quarters for four pieces of apple!
