A library card is the coolest card around and September just so happens to be Library Card Sign-up Month. Every September, San Mateo County Libraries and the Peninsula Library System, opens a new window join with the American Library Association, opens a new window to make sure that everyone in our communities has a free library card, which is an all access pass to everything our libraries have to offer.
Sally from the Peanuts comic strip gang said it best, “Happiness is having your own library card!" For me, having a library card is so much more than just having access to library materials and resources. My library happiness is the sense of community I find here. As the child of a retired San Mateo County librarian, I grew up in the library. It became my home away from home as I got to know the staff, created fond memories, did homework, volunteered, and explored other worlds in the library.
