NOINE NOINE!
There was a Lil’ Sebastian sized void left in my life when Parks and Recreation ended in 2015. After we said goodbye to Leslie Knope, Ron Swanson, and all of Pawnee, I tried to find a show that was equally comedic and heartfelt as P&R. Happily, people attached to Parks landed in some very interesting projects and we ended up with shows like People of Earth, Superstore, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
Last year, Fox decided to cancel Brooklyn Nine-Nine. After a short period of uncertainty, NBC announced that they would be picking up the show (they also produce it) and ordered a 13-episode run, which later extended into an 18-episode order.
The show was saved, but at a cost. Because production for the new season began later than in previous years, Season 6 was not ready in time for Halloween. If you are a fan of the show, you know the Halloween heist episodes are the highlight of the season (especially last season!), with increasing ridiculousness from season to season.
But to me the biggest blow was the announcement that Gina (Chelsea Peretti, opens a new window) would only be returning as a guest in the future. Peretti recently became a mother and decided to spend more time with her baby and step away from the show. B99’s showrunner, Dan Goor, opens a new window, has said that Gina’s exit will be “epic”. Let’s hope it really is!
Brooklyn Nine-Nine airs Thursdays on NBC.
