The Peninsula Libraries are hosting the 7th annual Young Adult Novelists’ Convention (YANovCon) on Saturday, March 12, 2022, from 1:00 PM–5:00 PM at the San Mateo Public Library, opens a new window.
Author Candice Iloh, opens a new window will be joining us virtually to open this free half-day celebration with a teen-led Q&A session, followed by live, in-person panel discussions and author book signings featuring award-winning, notable and new young adult novelists.

Anticipated schedule:
- Intro/Welcome: 1:00 - 1:15 PM
- Virtual Q&A with Candice Iloh: 1:15 – 1:45 PM
- Session 1: 2:00 – 2:40 PM
- Topic: Using Genre to Explore Teen Concerns
- Panelists: Shaun David Hutchinson, Veronica Rossi, Lily Sparks, and Shannon Takaoka
- Session 2: 2:50 – 3:30 PM
- Topic: Identity and Self-Discovery
- Panelists: Aida Salazar, A.J. Sass, Lisa Moore Ramée, and Lindsay Lackey
- Book signing with middle-grade authors**: 3:30 – 3:45 PM
- Session 3: 3:40 – 4:20 PM
- Topic: Identity and the Courage to Reveal Yourself
- Panelists: Candace Buford, Rachel Griffin, and Randy Ribay
- Book signing with all authors**: 4:30 - 5:15 PM
**Teen author Shaun David Hutchinson will join middle-grade authors Aida Salazar, A.J. Sass, Lisa Moore Ramée, and Lindsay Lackey for Book Signings at 3:30 PM. Mr. Hutchinson will not be available for book signings at 4:30 PM.
Menlo Park Library, opens a new window is also holding a special pre-event online on Thursday, March 10 at 6:00 PM with Janet Fox, the award-winning YA author and book coach to other YA authors. - YANovCon is appropriate for families including middle and high school students. Some mature topics could be discussed in the sessions.
- Public libraries are youth settings. All in-person participants and attendees will be required to wear face masks and to maintain social distance protocols for the duration of this event.
