Your library card is your key to all the resources the San Mateo County Libraries have to offer.
Your PIN number is set to 1234, please log into your account using this PIN and your temporary access code to reset your PIN code. This can also be done on your first visit to the library.
Your new library card will be available at your local library (please pick up within 10 days) or, if selected, mailed to you within 3 business days. You may begin browsing our items and placing holds with your temporary access code.
Your Library card will allow you to check out and return an unlimited number of materials at any public or community college library in San Mateo County.
The San Mateo County Library offers a wide range of services, resources and programs to meet the needs of our communities. Check out our quality library collections at our locations, ranging from books, DVDs, CDs, audiobooks, magazines, and more, as well as online collections including online resources such as databases, eBooks, eMagazines, eMusic and eVideos!
Learning is easy with innovative technology such as internet computers, online resources, mobile app, opens a new window, and downloadable eMedia.
Most of library materials may be borrowed for 3 weeks and can be automatically renewed up to 5 times if someone else is not waiting for it. We have a few collections with different loan periods. Please inquire with a staff member if you have any questions.
Free Holds
We offer free holds. If you are interested in an item that is not available or is not in your local library we will ship it to any library in the County, reserved for you to check out, free of charge.
Laptops
Laptop computers are available at most libraries for checkout to Peninsula Library System cardholders to use inside the library.
Free WiFi
San Mateo County Library offers free public wireless access in all its locations.
Museum Passes
Museum Passes provides access to museum passes, such as the Asian Art Museum, that can be printed online. As a San Mateo County Library card holder, you have access to numerous museums and cultural institutions throughout the Bay Area.
