San Mateo County Libraries is part of a nationwide coalition of libraries joining forces to raise funds through this annual campaign. #LibraryGivingDay reminds us that our libraries serve as a cornerstone for our communities. Beyond well-loved books, our libraries offer innovative programs that promote lifelong learning, connect you to technology and more. This one-day online fundraising event will take place on Wednesday, April 6 and encourages everyone to make a gift in support of the library. Donate anytime now through April 6 by visiting our foundation, opens a new window or your local Friends group.

You can also support Library Giving Day when you register for the Foundation’s Virtual Trivia Night, opens a new window on Wednesday, April 6 at 6 PM. This special fundraiser is a fun way to give to your library.

About the Foundation

The Foundation for San Mateo County Libraries was established in 2018 to build a legacy for our communities. The primary source of the libraries’ revenue comes from dedicated property taxes and covers the staffing and basic operational costs of the libraries. However, the extensive and innovative programming offered for all ages comes from one-time funds, which are not guaranteed year after year.

By becoming a donor, you will invest in the power to enrich the lives of everyone in our communities. Since 2019, the Foundation has donated over $230,000 to support youth programs, the makermobile, staff engagement and the Brisbane children’s room. Learn more at smcl.org/donate.

About the Friends

San Mateo County Libraries is proud to have 10 independent nonprofit support groups that raise funds for specific libraries. Their contributions support programs for youth and adults and staff engagement. In addition, they support special projects of their local library. Together, the Friends donate over $100,000 a year for library programs and services. Learn more at smcl.org/friends-of-the-library.

The Foster City Friends of the library is also hosting a fundraiser, opens a new window during National Library Week.
