We are thrilled to launch Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of San Mateo County to deliver books into the homes of our local communities!

The Imagination Library of San Mateo County invites families to sign up for free, monthly books in the mail for children ages 0-5. Founded by Dolly Parton, the book gifting program is offered around the world, in partnership with local organizations.

In San Mateo County, the Imagination Library is made possible by the Foundation for San Mateo County Libraries, opens a new window and our Friends of the Library groups in partnership with San Mateo County Libraries.

We’re excited to be a local program partner, as early literacy is proven to support preschool readiness as well as intellectual and emotional success.

How to Sign Up

Families who sign up their child age 0-5 will receive a free book in the mail monthly. Signing up is simple!

Fill out the required information
Submit! The first book will arrive in approximately 8-12 weeks—once it does, books will be delivered each month.

Every child age 0-5 in San Mateo County is eligible for their own free monthly book.

The Imagination Library of San Mateo County is made possible by the Foundation for San Mateo County Libraries in partnership with San Mateo County Libraries. The program is free to children due to fundraising efforts of the Foundation, local partners and our Friends of the Library groups.

Can I support with a donation?

The Foundation is committed to raising funds in support of this initiative to help us reach every child 0-5 in San Mateo County. A donation of $28 will support one child with books for a year. This donation is matched by the State (through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library), doubling the impact of the program. This means that a donation of $280 can support 20 children.
