National Library Week is April 6-12, 2025! This year, the American Library Association's, opens a new window theme is "Drawn to the Library" and San Mateo County Libraries is celebrating everything that draws you to the library. 

From library staff to outreach, National Library Week is an opportunity to recognize the value and impact of libraries everywhere. Each day of this week features a special dedication, read below to learn more and get involved! 

Celebration Days During National Library Week 

Monday, April 7: Right to Read Day 
Reading is your right! This is a day for all of us to stand up and take action to protect, defend and celebrate the right to read. Check out the newly released State of America's Libraries Report, opens a new window and the Top Ten Most Challenged Books of 2024, opens a new window. 

Tuesday, April 8: National Library Workers Day 
We are so grateful to our library staff, volunteers, Friends of the Library groups and partners for their monumental support and contributions. As a community, we are stronger together, and we are thankful for every helping hand guiding us into the future. 

Wednesday, April 9: National Library Outreach Day  
San Mateo County Libraries strives to meet our patrons where they are. Through our Makermobile, Bookmobile and staff outreach, we're able to extend our library services beyond our buildings and into our community. Keep an eye out for a library outreach event happening near you! 

Thursday, April 10: Take Action for Libraries Day
