Now Available: Blood Pressure Monitor Kits at the Library

We're excited to share that Blood Pressure Monitor Kits are now available at San Mateo County Libraries! In partnership with the San Mateo County Health Department, opens a new window, these kits enable you to check your blood pressure and track your readings with a personal log. Like other items in our Library of Things collection, these kits are loanable for three weeks and are available on a first come, first served basis.

Each kit also includes helpful information about blood pressure and hypertension in English, Spanish, Chinese, Russian and Tagalog.

What is the Blood Pressure Monitor Kit? 
The Blood Pressure Monitor Kit, in partnership with the San Mateo County Health Department, enables users to check their blood pressure. The kit includes a battery-operated blood pressure monitor in a backpack. The kit also includes a folder with a blood pressure log in English, Spanish, Traditional and Simplified Chinese. 

Each kit has instructions on how to operate the blood pressure monitor and information about blood pressure health and hypertension in different languages including English, Spanish, Russian, Tagalog and Chinese. This service expands upon our existing collection of nontraditional materials available to our patrons. 

What steps do I need to take to check out a blood pressure monitor kit?
As part of the partnership with the San Mateo County Health Department, we ask that you please fill out a short, anonymous survey before checking out the kit.

Where can I check out a Blood Pressure Monitor Kit? 
Blood Pressure Monitor Kits are available for checkout at all 13 San Mateo County Libraries locations.

What is the minimum age to check out a Blood Pressure Monitor Kit? 
Patrons 18 years and older are invited to check out a Blood Pressure Monitor Kit.

How long can I check out a blood pressure monitor kit, and how do I return it? 
Blood Pressure Monitor Kits are loanable for three weeks (21 days). Please return the kit to any San Mateo County Libraries' service desk.

Can I put the blood pressure monitor kit on hold? 
At this time, kits are only available on a first come, first served basis and are not holdable.
