Mental Health Is For Everyone

Every May, San Mateo County Libraries recognizes Mental Health Awareness Month.

Mental Health Awareness Month is an opportunity to learn, spread advocacy and destigmatize mental health.

Mental Health Is For Everyone

Conversations around mental health can often feel taboo or stigmatized. An important part of Mental Health Awareness Month is challenging those misconceptions and opening up the floor to discuss mental health freely, without judgement or shame.

Mental and physical health are intertwined. It’s vital to prioritize our mental health in the same way we would prioritize our physical health, since they are two sides of the same coin. Each of us will encounter trials, stress and unexpected hardship throughout our lives. Without the proper tools, these experiences can be detrimental towards our mental health. When it comes to taking care of ourselves, it’s totally normal to ask for help or for resources to weather the storm. Regardless of your age, life experience or background, mental health is for all of us!
