Library of Things: For the Nature Lovers

Written By: Cloud B. at Belmont Library

The Bay Area is a treasure trove for outdoor enthusiasts. With its diverse landscapes, mild climate and proximity to stunning natural wonders, it's no wonder this region has captured the hearts of nature lovers, myself included! I love to go hiking among the redwood trees, or strolling on the beach looking for shells, sea glass and other treasures. San Mateo County Libraries has a Library of Things that can help you immerse yourself more fully in the abundance of beauty of the outdoors.

County and State Park Passes

These passes are In-Luck items that are available on a first-come, first-served basis to anyone over 18 years old. The pass waives the vehicle entry fee, and you can check them out for three weeks. There are a few non-participating parks, so check out this list of County Parks, opens a new window and State Parks, opens a new window before planning your trip. Some of the County passes come in a handy fanny pack that you can hike with—they're back in fashion!
