Library Leads Pride

We like to think that libraries are pretty cool and that people who work in libraries are especially fabulous, but did you know that the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Round Table (GLBTRT) of the American Library Association, opens a new window (ALA) became the first gay professional organization in the nation way back in 1970?

The San Mateo County Libraries are committed to serving the diverse information and access needs of everyone in our community and we value the GLBTRT as a great source of information. The GLBTRT celebrates the Stonewall Book Awards, opens a new window each summer honoring new books for exceptional merit relating to the gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender experience.

If you're looking for a fun read before packing up the kids and heading to Pride, check out this past Stonewall Book Award winner, This Day in June at your local library!
