Learn New Skills With Computer Basics Classes

Are you eager to navigate the internet with greater ease? Or, maybe you know someone who is curious about email, word processing or computer security, but unsure where to start.

Computers connect us to worlds of knowledge, but they can also be intimidating and confusing, especially if you didn’t grow up “speaking” the language of tech. Luckily, it’s never too late to learn.

Whether you are ready to set up your first email address or develop more advanced skills in artificial intelligence and podcasting, San Mateo County Libraries has a Computer Basics class for you.

Tech Beginners Welcome!

Since November 2023, we have been offering free adult and senior computer classes at all of our locations. Led by expert instructor David Casuto, opens a new window, these classes cover everything from navigating websites to file management and ChatGPT.

Absolutely no experience is necessary to join one of these programs. Participants don’t even have to bring their own computers—we'll provide everything you need!

What better place than the library to try something new? Don't just take our word for it, here's what participants have had to say:

  • Our students appreciate how much they learned from David’s patient and clear instruction style, stating the class was “practical and engaging.”
  • Another student thought the class was “excellent,” describing how “the instructor was very receptive to people’s questions” and understood how to break down potentially confusing concepts.
  • One student even shared that this class was her first time ever touching a computer!
