Food Resources in San Mateo County

To support our community in locating reliable places to get groceries, free meals or general food support, we’ve gathered updated, 2025 food resources in San Mateo County to help connect you to what you need.

Meals at Three of our Libraries

We serve meals at our libraries year-round at our East Palo Alto, North Fair Oaks and Half Moon Bay libraries, five days a week. In the summer, meals can also be enjoyed at Brisbane Library. For any questions, you’re welcome to get in touch with us.

Find Resources Through the County of San Mateo

The County of San Mateo has a Food Resources page with information to support your specific needs. There, you can find information if you are seeking food immediately, through WIC (Women, Infants and Children), as a senior, a student or are interested in finding farmers markets that accept EBT and other vouchers.

Simply Call 211

You can also call the number 211, supported by the County, to receive info about food resources over the phone.

Connect With Second Harvest

One helpful resource is Second Harvest’s food locator tool: Get Food | Second Harvest of Silicon Valley, which can help you find nearby sites with fresh groceries or ready-to-eat meals. As a nonprofit, Second Harvest also encourages the community to reach out to their food connection hotline (1-800-984-3663)  for any questions regarding distribution sites, CalFresh assistance or any questions about Second Harvest Food Bank’s food assistance support.
