February Take and Make: Explore Architecture

This month our popular Take and Make kits explore architecture! Use your imagination to think like an architect, design a building and construct a model of your design using the materials in the kit.

Pick up your February Take and Make kit at any of our San Mateo County Libraries locations from February 14-19, 2022.

Kits are available first come, first served.

Start Using Your Imagination!

1. Before you start building, talk about, write or draw your ideas on a piece of paper. Here are some questions to inspire you:

• • Imagine what your building will be… will it be a house? A store? A school? Or something else?
  • Who does your building help?
  • What can your building be used for?
  • Where do you need this building in your community?
  • What does it look like inside of your building? What does it look like outside?

2. Optional: Create a blueprint drawing of your building design.

3. Then, make a model of your building using the materials in your kit. Feel free to incorporate other materials such as items found around the home, in nature and even in your trash or recycling bin!

3. Luego, haz un modelo de tu edificio utilizando los materiales de tu kit. ¡Intenta incorporar otros materiales, como los que se encuentran en el hogar, en la naturaleza e incluso en tu contenedor de basura o reciclaje!
