San Mateo County Libraries is excited to introduce a new online genealogy resource called My China Roots, opens a new window. This resource provides access to thousands of records of Chinese immigrant communities to support family history research.
Discover Your Family History
Explore your Chinese family history by searching for zupus (family tree books), and birth, marriage and death certificates. Other searchable information includes census, immigration and travel records.
My China Roots, opens a new window includes records for over 200 million individuals in Mainland Chinese collections and 5 million individuals in Overseas Chinese collections. The resource's surname database includes over 400 surnames and 9,400 recorded spelling variants, as well as 31 searchable ancestral village regions in China with 700,000 place names.
Start your search by building a family tree and adding the names of your ancestors. My China Roots' record finder automatically searches millions of records to help you continue expanding your family tree.
