Celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival with San Mateo County Libraries

The air is a little cooler and the summer sun is fading. The Mid-Autumn Festival is approaching soon! The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival or the Mooncake Festival, is a harvest celebration, enjoyed all throughout Asia and is a time for family reunions, giving thanks, and eating plenty of mooncakes.

The Mid-Autumn Festival falls on September 29, but we'll celebrate all month at San Mateo County Libraries. We hope you can join us!

Mid-Autumn Watercolor Moon

Celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival at our libraries by painting a watercolor moon and learning how to create textures using salt!

Mid-Autumn Festival Calligraphy Workshop

Join us and celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival! Explore the Customs of Mid-Autumn, share stories of the Moon Goddess and the Rabbit in the Jade Palace, and recite a classical poem about the moon. After the talk, hands-on art lessons on how to write simple characters and phrases.
 

Hand-Made Paper Lanterns

Stop by the library and create your own special paper lantern. We'll provide the supplies and you bring the creativity!
 

Taichi Workshop and Demo

Celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival with San Mateo County Libraries and TaiJi Studio's Irene Hu. Irene will demonstrate taijiquan fist and weapon forms before letting the audience join for a hands-on taiji experience!
 

Moon Stories with Eth-Noh-Tec

Celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival by experiencing captivating, culturall moon stories such as the Pan Asian tale, Rabbit on the Moon, and the Mongolian tale, The Fool Moon. All ages welcome.
