SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — San Mateo County Libraries is now accepting applications for its first Maker in Residence, opens a new window, a six-month program designed to bring hands-on STEAM learning experiences to communities across the county.
The selected Maker in Residence will travel throughout San Mateo County, leading public workshops, hosting open studio sessions in library makerspaces, and visiting communities alongside the Makermobile. The maker programs invite people of all ages to try new skills, experiment and discover the joy of making.
“Libraries have always been places for curiosity and discovery,” said Julia Mates, San Mateo County Libraries Governing Board Chair and City of Belmont Mayor. “The Maker in Residence program expands access to hands-on learning and invites community members to explore, build skills and connect through shared creative experiences.”

Applicants must be 18 years or older, live in the San Francisco Bay Area and commit to the full six-month residency. The position includes a $10,000 honorarium.
