About the New Library

San Mateo County Libraries and our partners — the City of Brisbane, opens a new window and the County of San Mateo, opens a new window — worked hard to complete and open the new Brisbane Library to the public for the first time on April 22.

See all there is to see at the new Brisbane Library with a tour from our friendly team. We’ll be excited to show off the Children’s Area, Teen Space, History Room, Community Room and Makerspace, complete with 3D printer, GoPro camera kits and more inside. Outside, community members will find Courtyard Spaces and cues of the building’s sustainable design, like a 5,000-gallon rain tank expected to reduce indoor water use by 77%. There is also a beautiful mural in the library courtyard painted by Precita Eyes, a project led by the Friends of the Brisbane Library which captures historical and present-day scenes of Brisbane.

Down to its design, the new Brisbane Library was made for the community. The new Brisbane Library’s 7,670-square-foot layout is meant to echo the city itself, with a connected community feel and commitment to sustainability, designed to be a Zero Net Energy building.

We can’t wait to welcome you to enjoy this new library, complete with an expanded collection!
