Renown children’s author, David Shannon is coming to East Palo Alto! Best known for his series of books that began with No, David! back in 1998, Shannon has written and illustrated many other books such as A Bad Case of Stripes, Duck on a Bike, and the many sequels to No, David! A curious tidbit about No, David! is that the book is based on himself. His mom gave him a book he had had drawn when he was little, depicting David doing things that would make his mom say “No, David!” He took this as the basis for that first book and the rest is history.
Another fascinating aspect about the author is that he also illustrates his own books! Shannon paints all of the illustrations in his books which is what gives them that unique brushed look.
David Shannon will be making a stop at the East Palo Alto library to read from his books and talk about his work and inspiration on November 18th from 10 AM to 11 AM.
