Pacifica Sanchez Library will be temporarily closed May 19 – June 3 for the construction of the Library Outpost. Both the library and the book drop will be unavailable during this period. If you need library services in the meantime, we will be ready to welcome you nearby at Pacifica Sharp Park Library.

We're excited to announce the start of construction for our Pacifica Sanchez Library Outpost!
What’s a Library Outpost?
The Sanchez Library Outpost will be our first easy-to-use, automated library. Stationed right out front of the Pacifica Sanchez Library, the outpost will offer a self-serve lending machine plus a space to enjoy the outdoors.
The lending machine will allow community members to browse, select items, pick up holds and return materials, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Think of the outpost as an extension of the library, available anytime.
Construction Begins
Construction will begin the first week of December and is expected to be completed in spring 2024. We plan to keep the library open during the building of the library outpost pending construction needs. Any potential closure dates will be posted as soon as they are scheduled. Construction will occur Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM outside, in front of the library. The work site will be fenced off for safety purposes.
What’s to Come
The new Pacifica Sanchez Library Outpost, which is a partnership with the City of Pacifica, opens a new window, is a community-driven space that will offer:
- A self-serve book vending machine
- A robust curated collection
- Canopy providing shade and sustainable outdoor furniture to sit
- Self-checkout and self-check-in
- Self-service returns and renewals of items
- Free WiFi service
To increase access to our physical and digital collections throughout the county, we have plans to add a total of three library outposts and are exploring additional locations for future outposts.
