San Mateo County Libraries is hosting a virtual Fable book club, opens a new window for Self-Portrait with Ghost by Meng Jin, including a virtual event with the author on March 22!
To celebrate, we're giving away a limited number of free eBook copies of Self-Portrait with Ghost through the Fable app.
Sign up, opens a new window to join the club and for your chance to get a free Fable eBook of Self-Portrait with Ghost. When asked to validate your account number, type in the number on the back of your library card. This offer is only for San Mateo County Libraries patrons with codes beginning with 29041, 29731 and 29735.
What is Fable?
Fable is an iPhone and Android app for book clubbers on-the-go. You can use Fable to join a virtual book club or start your own, but there are no meetings or video calls required. Anyone in a book club can write a post or question at any time, or comment on other people's posts. It's as easy as texting or commenting online—but just for your fellow book club members!
You can even read the eBook in the app itself and leave notes, highlights and emojis for your book club members to see (or just for yourself!).
Some book clubs are private, which means that you need an invitation or approval in order to join. Many others are public, which means that anyone can join!
Is Fable Free?
Clubs are free to join, and users can create free clubs of their own. By signing up for Fable with your library card, you’ll have access to Fable’s premium book clubs, which are usually only available through a paid subscription.
Are the Books Free?
Titles for the San Mateo County Libraries’ Book Club, opens a new window are free and will be automatically added to your account when you sign up. Some other book clubs also feature free books, like the Chamber of Classic Books, opens a new window. You can check out titles from San Mateo County Libraries' physical or electronic collections!
