Goodbye, Year of the Rat! Hello, Year of the Ox!

Xin Nian Kuai Le (Happy Lunar New Year)! The Year of the Rat, 2020, might be one that some of us would like to forget. For 2021, we celebrate the Year of the Ox, the second animal of the Chinese zodiac, which is associated with hard work, positivity, and honesty. So let's welcome in the new year with a positive spirit and a reminder to take care of ourselves and our communities.

We have exciting virtual programs for children to safely ring in Lunar New Year together! Learn more about The Year of the Ox from children's book author Oliver Chin when he reads his book with us on Thursday, February 11 at 5:00 PM. We will also have a special Lunar New Year Storytime Craft and Parade on Wednesday, February 17 at 10:30 AM. Read bilingual stories, craft your own dragon, and show off your best Lunar New Year attire virtually! A dragon craft kit will be available to pick up at our community libraries (except Atherton) starting Friday, February 12 during Curbside Service hours (Tuesday-Saturday, 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM), while supplies last.
