Finding a job can be tough, but San Mateo County Libraries has many resources, both in person and online, to help you on your search. In-Person Events
NOVAWorks is an organization part of America’s Job Centers of California network of federally funded job centers that supports folks seeking work. Come visit a NOVAWorks representative at events throughout our libraries. No appointment is necessary, so stop by anytime during the event. NOVAWorks representatives will be inside the library to share job search resources, help with your resume, or learn about job training workshops.
Computers, Printers, Copiers
Did you know you can use our computers for free in the library? We have both desktop and laptop computers available to use in the library for job searching and filling out applications. Printing and copying is free up to 25 pages per day for any documents you may need for work. You can also borrow laptops and Wi-Fi hotspots to take home. Quiet Spaces
Book a study room at one of our libraries to access a private room great for virtual interviews or phone calls. You can book these rooms up to two weeks in advance for two hours at a time. You can book a room online or contact our Customer Care at 1-833-937-7625 to check availability.
1:1 Job Search Help
Millbrae Library now offers 1:1 Job Search Help available by appointment. You can get personalized help with resumes, cover letters and even practice for an interview. Learn more about our 1:1 Job Search Help to book an appointment. This service may be expanding to other libraries soon!
eResources
Coursera is an online platform where you can access online courses for free with your library card. It's great for learning new skills that apply to the industry you want to work in. Coursera is a highly popular resource, so please check with Customer Care for availability.
California Driver Permit Practice Tests allow you access to DMV practice materials. Need a car to get to work but don’t have a permit? Or perhaps you need to get a specific license for your job? You can practice for the written portion of the tests on this free website through the library.
O’Reilly for Public Libraries is a digital database with hundreds of eBooks, video courses and case studies to help you gain knowledge in over 1,000 topics relating to business and technology.
