Many library patrons have a goal that helps them stay motivated to read more, explore new genres and authors. A goal might be to read a certain number of books or a certain number of minutes each day. Healthline, opens a new window reports that reading promotes brain health, personal growth, self-care and relaxation.
People are also looking for ways to connect more with other people. Social connections are important for our well-being and there is growing recognition of the importance of social connections in mental and physical health, stress reduction and happiness.
Find Connection and Read More with a Book Club
Libraries are a great resource whether you want to read more, connect more, or both!
If you want to read, relax, explore and connect more this year, check out our book clubs. We have a variety of book clubs to help you find that next great read and a place to rehash that book with others who also just read it too.
We have some nontraditional book clubs, like Cookbook Clubs where the participants all test and discuss recipes, or the Walk and Talk Book Club where the members go for a walk to discuss the book. There’s the Silent Book Club where it’s more about hanging out with others and reading. There’s the Chinese Book Club and ESL Book Clubs for English learners!
