Art and Activism
Printmaking has long been an important part of various Latin American cultures. This Latinx Heritage Month we are excited to offer Screen Printing and Block Printing and Artivism. These art programs for adults showcase the various Latinx uses of printmaking as protest. Participants will learn about linoleum block printing and screen printing on paper. Participants are also invited to bring their own t-shirts or bags for printing if they wish.
Lowrider Legacy
Explore the bold, beautiful world of lowrider culture through art! Led by acclaimed artist and author Ricardo Cortez, this hands-on workshop celebrates the rich history of Chicano identity, visual storytelling and creative expression. Participants will use a curated set of vintage images—from classic lowrider spreads to iconic typography—to design and collage their own unique mural piece. Framed and ready to take home, each creation is a tribute to the pride, style and legacy of lowrider art. Keep an eye out for more details coming soon.
