Summertime, with longer days and a little time off, is a fantastic opportunity to learn something new. Whether you are keen to try your hand at jewelry making or want to pick up your knitting needles after a long hiatus, there is something for everyone on Creativebug. Beyond a wonderful collection of crafting books, your San Mateo County Libraries card grants you free access to over 5,000 videos on sewing, decoupage, canning and preserving, bookbinding and more!
What Makes Creativebug Special?
Creativebug has plenty of handy tools you won’t find on YouTube and a vetted list of talented instructors. Each class has a materials list of everything you’ll need and a notes section to jot down important information. Here are some other useful tools to boost your creativity:
- Pattern Library, opens a new window – There is a nifty pattern library with downloadable knit and crochet patterns to help inspire your next project. Each pattern has detailed instructions and a link to the corresponding class if you need to clarify anything.
- Daily Practice, opens a new window – If you have trouble sticking with a project, their daily practice videos might be the perfect thing for you. For 30 days, you get a prompt encouraging you to do something new and different with your newfound skill.
How It Works
All you need to do is enter your library card number and follow the prompts to set up your account. After that, Creativebug makes it easy to find what you’re looking for with projects broken up into sections like Quilting, Paper and Crochet. There is even a Kids section, opens a new window!
