San Mateo County Libraries is thrilled to announce that we now offer our library customers access to World Book Online. World Book Online transforms the popular print World Book Encyclopedias into a dynamic online learning experience. Patrons can interact with World Book Online with six different modules.

The guided reading program has stories across reading levels that provide building blocks for early learners. The read-aloud capabilities and easy-to-recognize icons allow pre-emergent readers to learn independently. Kids can view videos, play games and read stories.

, opens a new windowHas interactive, image-based navigation that aids students in finding information quickly and easily. Students can dig deeper into topics that they choose. There are sections like World of Animals, WebQuests and Science Projects. This is a great product that helps kids build digital literacy.

, opens a new windowAllows kids to explore famous attractions worldwide with 360-degree photographs and videos. This module provides assessment tools and resource guides for advanced learning. Text can be translated into 100+ languages or read aloud. The content is curriculum-aligned for elementary and middle school students. Along with important headlines on news and current events, there is a biography reference center.
