The new Guardians of the Galaxy 2 trailer hit the internet a few weeks ago. And we are so ready for the sequel!
Are you ready for a little Guardians of the Galaxy history? The original superhero team, opens a new window that called itself the Guardians of the Galaxy first appeared way back in 1969 with a completely different cast of characters.
The team we know and love came together in their own comic series, opens a new window in 2008, followed by the 2014 film.
Fun fact: there are a few key differences between the comic book version of the Guardians of the Galaxy and their movie counterparts. For example, in the comics Peter Quill a.k.a Star-Lord (played by Chris Pratt, opens a new window) is the son of a human woman named Meredith Quill and an alien emperor named J’son.
But this fun fact won’t help you figure out Star-Lord’s movie backstory. Director James Gunn, opens a new window decided to change the identity of Peter’s father, opens a new window. Instead of an intergalactic Emperor he will be an ancient interstellar entity known as Ego the living planet, opens a new window (played by Kurt Russell, opens a new window.)
