Get Ready for Curbside Pickup Starting Saturday, June 6!

We’re  excited to announce good news for patrons who have patiently been waiting to pick up their holds and  dive  into  a great read — San Mateo County Libraries will be launching Curbside  Pickup this  Saturday, June 6!

This safe, contactless service will be available by appointment only at all twelve of our community libraries. Curbside Pickup will be available three days per week: Tuesdays from 3 - 7 PM, and Thursdays and Saturdays from 10 AM - 2 PM.

We will be announcing more information — like how to schedule your pickup, what safety precautions are in place and frequently asked questions — soon on smcl.org.

Here’s a preview of how Curbside Pickup will work:

  1. Browse smcl.org, opens a new window to place holds on any items.
  2. After you receive your email confirmation that your item(s) on hold are ready, use our appointment booking system to schedule a time for your pickup.
  3. Then, you’ll receive another email confirming the date, time, and location-specific pick-up instructions.
  4. Lastly, arrive during your scheduled appointment, pick up your materials, and enjoy!

Your items will be checked out to you in advance. Staff will place your holds in a bag on our curbside table for you to pick up when you arrive. Bags are labeled last name, first initial, and last 4 digits of your phone number. Employees and customers will be following social distancing and public health recommendations during pickup.

For assistance, we've recently updated our  customer service hours, opens a new window  to better serve you. We’re looking forward to getting library materials back into the hands of our community!
