San Mateo County Library presents Lawyers in the Library
A new monthly series beginning in August. Each month the library holds free legal clinics. Find out more and schedule a one-on-one twenty minute consultation with a volunteer lawyer at your local library. Each evening at each library has a scheduled focus--topics include family law, wills and trusts, guardianship, general topics, real estate, and more. Sign up at a participating library today!

Baby Sign Language Introductory Workshop
Monday, September 14, 10:30 AM to 12:00 Noon
Jump-start your child's verbal skills! Stop guessing what your baby is trying to tell you. Baby Sign Language gives parents the opportunity to communicate with children long before babies can verbalize their wants and needs. This workshop introduces basic baby signs that are based on American Sign Language (ASL) and is designed for parents with hearing babies who range in age from birth to 18 months old. You will learn about the latest research and all the tricks on how to teach your baby to sign. Fun activities and songs will show you how easy it can be to integrate simple signs into your everyday routine to jump-start your child's verbal skills. Space is limited. As part of the "We Read Together" program throughout San Mateo County, Ellen Klages will discuss her books, Green Glass Sea and White Sands, Red Menace. As the first story takes place in New Mexico during the Manhattan Project, adults may enjoy this book too and are welcome to attend the program. These books are best for grades 5+.
