Meet and Greet San Mateo County Library Director Martín Gómez |
back to the top |
Please join the staff from the San Mateo County Library in welcoming our new Director of Library Services Martín Gómez. We’ll be hosting festive receptions, open to the public, on Monday, November 3 at 9:00 a.m. at the new Portola Valley Library, and on Thursday, November 13 at 5:00 p.m. at the Millbrae Library.
Mr. Gómez brings over 30 years of experience leading public libraries. He recently spent four years as President of the Urban Libraries Council which supports research, continuing education and programs that strengthen the public library as an essential part of urban life. Prior to this he was Executive Director of the Friends & Foundation of the San Francisco Public Library, Executive Director of the Brooklyn Public Library, and Director of the Oakland Public Library. He is past President of REFORMA, the National Association to Promote Library & Information Services to Latinos and the Spanish Speaking, the author of several articles, and frequently speaks both nationally and internationally on public libraries.
As we approach November, most of us look forward to a bit of good cheer. Yet many people are hurting from our current economic situation and may not have a lot of disposable income to spend on entertainment this holiday season. With that in mind, San Mateo County Library has organized three free, festive programs. Please join us for some great entertainment and light refreshments.
Holidays: Christmas, Chanukah and Other Festive Celebrations
The Docent Council from the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco will present a slide talk that will show how the holidays have been represented in art over the years. Refreshments will be served! Join us for a festive, enlightening evening.
