Walter Mosley

Walter Mosley Reads from his Latest Mystery Novel

Walter Mosley is the author of 29 critically acclaimed books including his Easy Rawlins and Fearless Jones series. Devil in a Blue Dress, his breakout novel was made into a motion picture with Denzel Washington and Don Cheadle. He has been an O’Henry award winner and won the Sundance Film Institute’s Risk Taker Award in 2005. He will only be appearing in the Bay Area twice, so don’t miss him reading from his latest novel at the Belmont Library complete with a wine and cheese reception.

Chau Yoder

Be a Mindful Being: A Well-Being Workshop

Mindfulness, the Eastern art of learning to live in the present moment, is currently emerging in the Western hemisphere as a useful tool for enhancing well-being and reducing stress. Trainer Chau Yoder is a Chi Gung and Mindful Living Trainer. She has acquired her training from the highly respected Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh*. She has been offering various workshops, classes and training throughout the Bay Area to promote healthy and happy living since 1989.

Moira Fordyce

Memory and Aging: Use it or Lose it

Moira Fordyce, a doctor since 1962, is a geriatrician who for more than 20 years specialized in home care, nursing home care and hospice. She is adjunct Clinical Professor of Medicine, Stanford University School of Medicine, and is Vice Chair of the American Geriatrics Society Public Education Committee. She was Senator Barbara Boxer’s delegate to the White House Conference on Aging in 2005. Dr. Fordyce will explain how memory changes throughout one’s lifespan and explore factors that can protect and even improve memory.

Designed for people of all ages and fitness levels, the boot camps will bring out your inner athlete - and give you the tools to live healthier, happier, and in balance.
