San Mateo, CA - San Mateo County's Poet Laureate Caroline Goodwin is seeking submissions for this fall’s “Poetry Is Nature” campaign.

Poets of any age living in San Mateo County are asked to submit their poems exploring nature in and around the County. Poets can send their poems up to 20 lines in length along with their name, age, and where they live to: smcpoetryis@gmail.com before September 15. Selected poems will be considered for inclusion in a celebration event on Saturday, October 15 at 2 p.m. at the Woodside Library, 3140 Woodside Road, Woodside, CA.

The “Poetry Is Nature, opens a new window” is a continuation of the “Poetry Is” project and campaign, designed by Caroline Goodwin in partnership with the San Mateo County Libraries. Its goal has been to increase awareness of San Mateo County’s rich diversity of people, place and neighborhoods through the power of the spoken word and place-themed poetry.

Various contests and events were hosted throughout the past two years to highlight this campaign including “Poetry is Love, opens a new window”, “Poetry is Family, opens a new window”, “Poetry is Heritage, opens a new window”, “Poetry is Autumn, opens a new window” and now “Poetry is Nature, opens a new window.”
