Consumers’ Checkbook is an independent nonprofit consumer organization that helps consumers make wiser choices about local services and products. The organization also provides recommendations and advice to help consumers save time, money, and trouble when it comes to purchasing decisions.

Looking for a new car? A reliable place to board your dog? Or perhaps you need a new dentist? Consumers’ Checkbook can help! You can find ratings and advice for:

To get started, simply visit San Mateo County Libraries' Automotive & Consumer Resources page. Make sure you’re logged into SMCL’s website with your library card and PIN number. Click on Consumers’ Checkbook and you’ll be redirected to the Bay Area version of the site. And that’s it – you now have access to thousands of ratings and reviews on local businesses and services!
